Welcome to Room 18's Reading Log Wiki . This year, we are going to experiment with a new twist on the typical reading log. We are going to use this space to post thoughts and ideas about our independent reading we are doing outside of class. Each student will be expected to write one post a week. Click here for the categories.

This wiki is open for anyone to read. However, only members (Room 18 students) will be able to post. Students will use their own Sign In and password. Students will only use their first name (as discussed per Internet Safety Guidelines, in class), and no other personal information about the students will be available. After each and every post to this wiki I will receive an e-mail letting me know who, and what has been posted. In other words, this site will be closely monitored. The specific directions and rules about posting to the wiki will be discussed in class.

I've seen this type of wiki in action and I'm hoping that you will be inspired to put more thought into your writing since we have a built-in audience: each other.

Students are expected to use the appropriate tone and style when posting to this wiki. You are not to post to this wiki like you would when you are using instant messaging, texting or e-mailing friends. In the past I've seen students write in class using the style they would if they were texting or e-mailing a friend. It's very important for you to see the difference, and to know when to use certain styles of language.

A huge thanks to Mr Mayo for sharing his idea for the Wiki twist on Reading Logs and inspiring me to set up the same for our class.
